The IEA Clean Coal Centre's workshop on AUSC power plant (AUSC3) returned to Rome on 13-14 December 2017, hosted by the Centro Sviluppo Materiali (Centre for Materials Development).
The development and demonstration of metal alloys which can operate at steam conditions up to 700oC is essential for raising the efficiency of coal power plant towards 50% and beyond, and holds enormous potential for reducing global CO2 emissions. AUSC3 brought together the key research programmes in this field worldwide and highlighted the progress made since the last edition.
This edition of the workshop was held in close cooperation with the participants in the EU research project: 'Demonstration Plant - 700oC' (DP700), Doosan Babcock, CSM, Cranfield University, DEKRA, TU Chemnitz, TU Darmstadt, TU Gratz and VTT, who presented their Phase 1 results at the event.
